Chris Brice

Chris Brice

Chris is Adviser for Social Justice in the Diocese of London. He is an active facilitator of the London and Southwark Dioceses Prisons and Penal Concerns Group where he first encountered ‘Bridging the Gap’. He has worked closely with James organising annual conferences in London to mark Prisons Week in 2004 and 2005. Chris is involved in a wide variety of social justice policy networks and initiatives across London and nationally concerned with issues such as poverty, racial justice, the environment, global economic justice, and racial discrimination. Chris believes that the character of social justice - theologically, philosophically and politically - is a core aspect of God’s being and a foundational force in shaping our determination to make the world a fairer place, where everyone can flourish. He thinks that spiritual formation has a key role to play in preparing and sustaining us in this task. He sees structural economic inequality as a prime cause of social exclusion, oppression, and suffering within and between nations. Chris lives in Newington Green N5, in the Hackney and Islington borderlands. He was Vicar of St Michael and All Angels, London Fields, Hackney from 1986 – 1993.
