Categories Please read the rules and guidance for the competition carefully as they should explain all you need to know to enter the competition. Short story or poem category The short story category was started in memory of Janet Stevens-Turner, previously a judge and a valued supporter of the project; it was Janet who suggested we have a short story or poem category. What we are looking for? Short story – should be no shorter than 1,000 words and no longer than 3,000 words; on the subject of crime and punishment, prison, justice or ‘my story’. Poem – should be of a reasonable length. Novel length story category What are we looking for? A story no shorter than 1,500 words and no longer than 3,000 words; the subject is prison life, resettlement or criminal justice. Please remember that your work must not contain any real people’s names, nor must it be in any way libellous nor must it defame anyone’s character. Autobiographies will NOT be considered. |
